Bruce Palmer gallery Show 2009

Arnold Friberg's painting of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are displayed in the Main floor gallery during the 2010 season.

George Pope's watertcolors were on display in the Fireplace Room at the Cross River Heritage Center from October 4- October 18 and at the Holiday Bazaar on November 21, 2009.

George has been painting watercolors since he was 10 years old. After finishing a paint-by-number piece he became fascinated by how the little patches of color made a picture. His family moved to Silver Bay, Minnesota in 1958 when the town was brand new. He graduated in from high school in Silver Bay 1963 and then attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He spent his career as a physician with 18 years each in Family Practice and Emergency Medicine. He still works a few days a month.

He has a number of other hobbies, mostly having to do with the outdoors, including phenology, birding, fishing, in-line skating, biking, cross-country skiing, hiking, and sailing. The Superior Hiking Trail and the Silver Bay Marina lured him back to Silver Bay in 2001. According to George, "As is true with so many who live on the North Shore I feel a strong attraction to Lake Superior and the Sawtooth Range. I try to capture the beauty of our area in my paintings."
