Who is Edwin Lundie, Architect of Lutsen Lodge and North Shore Cabins?
Hear from Edwin Lundie expert, Dale Mulfinger, FAIA, about the life and work of this significant Minnesota architect, who designed the iconic Lutsen Lodge and many cabins in the Schroeder area. Mulfinger’s many articles on the design of cabins have earned him the moniker of “Cabinologist.” A founding partner of SALA Architects in Minneapolis, Mulfinger has designed many lakeside cabins along with urban and rural homes from St. Paul to Buenos Aires.
His books include Cabinology and The Architecture of Edwin Lundie. For many years, Mulfinger led tours to Edwin Lundie cabins in the Schroeder area, which was a fundraiser for the Schroeder Area Historical Society.
His talk comes at a transitional time, following the 2024 fire that destroyed Lundie’s Lutsen Lodge. Come see and hear about the treasure that Lutsen Lodge was for so many and contemplate what the future might hold for its rebuilding or re-imagining.
